FPGA example source
Added by Brian Rasmussen over 13 years ago
Hi
I am trying to get the EMIF interface up and running between the uC and the FPGA on a OMAP-L138F Profibus Dev kit board.
At first I would like to verify, I can program the FPGA from the uC using the board support package supplied fpga driver for linux. Somewhere in these pages I came across a sample FPGA file ready to download to a CPU platform connected to an "IndustrialIO" dev kit. Will this sample file fit my board too?
Next step will be to create my own FPGA image. In case I can use the file from above, is it then possible to get the Xilinx project for this file, or does it not implement the EMIF interface?
I have found "Hello world" examples for the uC and for the DSP but not for the FPGA. Is it possible also to provide a simple "Hello World" example project for the FPGA where the EMIF interface is included? I have tried to import the *.vhd files in the board support package into Xilinx ISE 12.1, but I was not able to create a working image... I will try again tomorrow, but any help, hints, guides etc. will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Brian

Hi Brian,
I can provide you with an example project if you are still stuck. Sorry for the delay. Please advise what you need.

Hi Mike,
thanks for your response. I would like a simple gpio example for the fpga using the fpga_gpio.ko driver from your board support package. If I am able to toggle an IO pin it would be enough for this test.
I have tried to download the IndustrialIO.bin file to the fpga and the download worked. It would be nice to verify the FPGA could run and communicate too...
Best regards,
Brian
