If both the LCD display and the display connected to the DVI interface can run using the timings (e.g., same resolution, same pixel clock rate, same front / back porch settings, same vertical refresh rate) then you should be able to run both the DVI and the LCD interface at the same time. You will need to create a custom FPGA image to provide this capability -- you will need to route the LCD interface signals to both the DVI_* signals connected to the TFP410 on the industrial I/O board as well as to a FPGA based serializer to generate the LVDS signaling to the LCD panel interface.

I would have to double check, but I suspect that the timings for the 800x600 SVGA display called out on the wiki should support standard 60 Hz VESA timings, which means that timing signals routed to the TFP410 should support most 4:3 capable monitors.

You could also use a DVI splitter (the DVI interface only supplies the digital signals, not the analag DAC signals, so a "cheap" DVI to VGA converter will not work) to route the display signal to 2 monitors if that is desired.

If you are not comfortable with the FPGA portion of this effort, CL could assist with this under a small contract.

Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply.
Our previous query is not clear enough, here is our detailed design requirement: our objective is to drive two displays from mitydsp L138F vision development kit having VGA interfaces drivers

1) Can MitydspL138F vision development kit be interfaced with any DVI based LCD displays having drivers or we need to purchase the displays from you only.

2) We have to drive two displays (0.5 and 8 inch) with drivers having VGA interfaces, so we wanted to use DVI to VGA splitter (Mitydsp L138F board to LCD driver). Is this possible with Mitydsp Vision development kit. If so, Can you suggest any appropriate splitters for this

3) Our selected 8 inch and 0.5 inch display drivers details were attached please check for the feasibility and our design configurationis also attached.

Please confirm if our design is fine that is with mitydsp l138F can i drive one display atleast.

with best regards,
Naveen K.S

The DVI interface on the L138F / Industrial I/O kit is DVI-D (see wikipedia page about DVI interface types) compliant only.

To drive the displays you have attached using the VGA inputs, you need to generate analog signals. You will need to purchase a DVI-D to VGA/analog converted such as this adapter from StarTech prior to splitting. A simple "passive" splitter may fine, but without testing the configuration I don't know if you might need a powered VGA splitter.

There may be cheaper DVI-D to VGA adapters available.
