Shock and Vibration

Customers utilizing our System on Module designs in their products have needed to verify that the MXM connector used could handle the necessary shock and vibration requirements of their applications. Below are descriptions of the testing that has been performed/recorded:

Vibration Test:

Total test time of three hours (one hour on each axis) using a shaker table driven in the range of 20Hz to 2000Hz which created a level of approximately 6.5 G centered at 1kHz to try and construct a PSD of .04 G^2/Hz.

Modules tested were inspected for any damage in addition to the carrier board connector. No changes noted.
Functional test cases were exercised and passed.

Prior IEC Test Results:

IEC 60255-21-1:1988
Vibration Response and Endurance
4.2.1, 4.2.2 Class 1

IEC 60255-21-2:1988
4.2.1 Class 1
Shock Withstand
4.2.2 Class 1
Bump
4.3 Class 1

IEC 60255-21-3:1993
Single Axis sweep method
section 4 Class 1

Third-party MXM Connector Evaluation:

Finally there is an independent document that discusses the usage of the MXM interface (not using a MitySoM) in rugged applications, http://ieee-hpec.org/2012/index_htm_files/Straznicky.pdf (and attached).
