SATA link down

Added by yilin wang almost 11 years ago

I am attaching SATA SSD drives to MityARM1808.I am using 2.6.x kernel and NFS.My SSD is formated EXT2 with 1 Partition.
At first time I boot the kernel, the SATA drive is automounted to /media/sda1,everthing works well.
But after I do a "poweroff" to shutdown MityARM1808,and reboot again, the problem is coming.
the sata doesn't work.

something about that:
ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 irq 67
...
ata1: SATA link down(SStatus 0 SControl 300)
ata1: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x4050202 action 0xe frozen
ata1: irq_stat 0x00400040, connection status changed
ata1: SEror: (RecovComm Persist PHTRdyChg CommWake DevExch)
ata1: hard resetting link
...
ata1: SATA link down(SStatus 1 SControl 300)
ata1: EH complete

I formate SSD to FAT32,the sata could work good onetime:that means after "poweroff" and reboot, the problem is coming again.

I did another try.I formate SSD to EXT2 again.AS expected, the sata work good onetime, but gone when reboot.
And then I boot a 3.2.0 kernel, the sata only works good at first time.

something about booting 3.2.0 kernel:
ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0)
ata1: COMPRESET failed (errno=-16)
ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0)
ata1: COMPRESET failed (errno=-16)
ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0)
ata1: COMPRESET failed (errno=-16)
ata1: limiting SATA link speed to 1.5 Gbps
ata1: COMPRESET failed (errno=-16)
ata1: reset failed, giving up

Appreciate any help.

Hi,

Can you confirm that your drive is limited to SATA-II link speeds.

See the AM1808 Errata Advisory 2.1.11 for details.

This usually resolves the issue. Most drives have a jumper setting to support limiting link speed.

If you are using SATA-II link speeds on your drive and are still having problems, please let me know.

hello ,I have the same problem !
Can you tell me this problem is Finish or not?

Are you using SATA-II or SATA-III link speeds? I believe the Errata from TI still applies.
