HSMC Expansion Cards

The MitySOM-5CSX Development Kit basebooard has (2) HSMC connectors available for user devices. The pin-outs for these connectors are included in the baseboard datasheet. Critical Link has not yet released any HSMC form factor expansion cards at this time since a number of compatible cards already exist from IC manufacturers and others. We have had a number of customers utilize different expansion cards successfully with our development kit.

3rd Party HSMC Cards

  • Texas Instruments offers a number of the evaluation boards that are based upon their own High Speed connector but they also have an HSMC bridge adapter available (http://www.ti.com/tool/hsmc-adc-bridge).
  • Terasic offers a number of general purpose HSMC expansion cards. Their technical support iss e-mail only.

Please post in our forum if you are looking at a specific HSMC expansion card and would like compatibility advice (https://support.criticallink.com/redmine/projects/mityarm-5cs/boards)

Custom HSMC Card Design Information

Some customers have chosen to prototype their HW design using custom HSMC compatible cards in combination with our Development board.

The advantages with that approach are that a relatively "simple" 2 or 4 layer PCB can be created which adds the specific hardware that will be used in your end design without managing/building a complete BOM (i.e. no power supplies or HPS interfaces). Critical Link provides the baseboard design files in the Altium Designer format (pin-out, trace lengths, mechanical details, etc.) for your reference.

If you have specific questions about creating a custom HSMC interface card we encourage you to utilize our MitySOM-5CSX forums (https://support.criticallink.com/redmine/projects/mityarm-5cs/boards) and an engineer will assist you.
